Pros

The people, tuition remission, excellent benefits and time off are all fantastic at Boston University. I really enjoy working there.

Cons

Salaries are a bit lower than other academic institutions. Parking costs on the Medical School campus are a little high.

    Pros

Very flexible work schedule - most staff rarely works 9 to 5
Flexible time off, all holidays off, intersession off (and paid)
    Convenient location

    Cons

Some of the lowest staff compensation among private universities in Boston
    Difficulty moving upward without connections
    Limited growth within a position
Most of the other staff is adverse to change

    Advice to Management

Cut out some of the intense bureaucracy. It is cumbersome to deal with when trying to complete certain tasks. Dealing with Accounts Payable is always frustrating.

    Pros

Overall, the University is a great place to work. Nice people, great benefits, down to earth, etc.

    Cons

Do not enter a job with the Executive Leadership Center at SMG The department is run incredibly poorly and every staff member there is treated like dirt due to the terrible, terrible leadership. Everyone at the School, and a large part of the University, know about the issues this department faces but no one will do anything about it. In addition to many other factors, there is constant turnover in the department but apparently that is not enough of a sign that something must be done with the leadership.

    Advice to Management

Place even the least bit of value on employee happiness.
