My 1st Career Move

District Executive (Current Employee) Dallas, TX

ProsA great 1st career move, with a supportive team and very growth oriented. I have freedom to manage my schedule. Overseeing many responsibilities keeps a District Executive busy and challenged. The field we work in is very rewarding and it gives me great pride to have a part in developing young men and women.

ConsIt could be very easy to lose sight of personal goals. 60+ hour work weeks with some mandatory weekends. not for the faint of heart, you must believe and live the ideals of the scouting program.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

    Rewarding yet Frustrating

District Executive (Former Employee) Allentown, PA

I worked at Boy Scouts of America full-time for more than 5 years

Pros: Making a difference, ok training, great volunteers Cons: too political, 1970's style managers - Corporate Culture is way of date. Pay is way too low for the zillions of hours that you… Advice to Senior Management: Be Prepared....to be in the business of becoming much smaller No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company… More

    camp orr adventure

    Dining Hall Staff/Steward (Former Employee)

I worked at Boy Scouts of America as a contractor for less than a year

Pros: We got to meet kids from all over the country and socialize with… Cons: We were often over worked and under paid. They started overcrowding the camp and didn't hire enough staff… Advice to Senior Management: Pay the staff better or hire more help. Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company… More
