I worked at Boys & Girls Clubs

Pros

You get to work with underprivileged children and feel like you are making a difference.
You can move from part-time to full time if you make an effort and express interest;

Cons

Very low pay (it is a non-profit company).
Very hard to get time off (no paid vacation for first year).

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay a little more and invest in part time staff in order to retain staff and eliminate quick turnover. Hire more staff to work full time.

    I have been working at Boys & Girls Clubs

    Pros

    Working with different ages of children is what we do. To think that you could effect not only their day but, their future in how they feel about themselves is a great responsibility. The teaching of coping and social skills is such a high need for today's children especially since so many live in two income families who have a limited amount of time with their children. What we can do is so much more than "after school care" if the program is ran effectively.

    Cons

    low quality employees teaching high self esteem

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Expect quality work from your employees. They should be smiling and nice at the least. Your requested standard along with training would greatly improve the program that is so very important to today's youth. More pride in what you do felt by all level of employees.

    No opinion of CEO
