Old-fashioned, married to the past and full of cronyism

I worked at Boys & Girls Clubs full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Mission. The mission to serve youth most in need is wonderful and there are many good clubs across the country executing on the mission well. The kids are wonderful but you are removed from them by working at headquarters.

    Cons

Long-term employees with "that's not how we do it here" mentality.
Top performances not valued. Only old relationships valued.
Pay - below average for job and market
Cronyism. Some old, blind allegiances in too many key departments or individuals who are under-qualified yet yell discrimination and end up protected. Some leaders need to go. Others who are newer are a mixed bag. Understand that a staffer from Komen was hired and is now bringing in tons of Komen people without having to post jobs or allow others to apply. Is that what Boys & Girls Clubs needs? Another Komen, political nightmare?
