Overly-Aggressive Growth Goals and Going Nowhere Fast

(Current Employee)

Pros- Nice co-workers when not being monitored by management.
- Free coffee

Cons- No on-boarding process.
- HR functions have been off-shored. Good luck finding anyone in HR locally that's willing to respond to questions or knows what's going on.
- Corporate accounting has been off-shored.
- Company is atrophied with process management and still can't get it right.
- Company hires newly-minted MBAs to manage employees with much more experience who know the business and industry far better and should be promoted to management themselves.
- Meetings, meetings, meetings and more meetings! Then meetings to discuss the previous meetings. Try getting any real work done under those circumstances.
- If the last round of management strategy hasn't worked, it's on to the next round of "simplifications," otherwise known layoffs and reductions and cost increases in benefits.
- Hires consultants rather than trusting employees to grow the business.
- Acquires other businesses to grow the company rather than innovating. Innovation is not in Brady's DNA.
- Management far too conservative - amazingly risk-averse.
- Quality of product has diminished. The majority of manufacturing has gone off-shore with dire results.
- The beatings will continue until moral improves.

Advice to Senior ManagementBrady Corporation used to be a shining jewel in the community of Milwaukee businesses. Because of their penchant for hiring new, clueless MBAs who don't know the business, dependence on consultants and process management and their aversion to risk, it's no wonder that this publicly-held company has a stock price trend line that's as flat as the waveform on a patient's heart monitor who's recently hit room temperature.

It's time for a vast over-hauling of senior and middle managers who got the company into this mess and return it to it's once-great status. Too many excellent employees are leaving because they aren't being recognized for their contributions and the stifling corporate culture.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at Brady full-time for more than 3 years

Pros: You’ll notice a recurring theme in the “Pros” section of reviews about Brady--the people are great. A significant amount of time is spent… Cons: Participating in an increasingly commoditized market is nothing short of difficult, and this often withers the creative team down to its core. In my opinion,… Advice to Senior Management: Now that F. Jaehnert has stepped down as CEO, don’t be afraid to jump… Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company… More

Brady is way too LEAN for its own good. Management doesn't abide by the values expected of the rest of the company.

I worked at Brady full-time for more than 3 years

Pros: Decent benefits package. Able to purchase up to 5 additional vacation… Cons: There is growth potential in certain markets, but management is so greedy with LEAN practices that they won't invest in the resources necessary to grow… Advice to Senior Management: The recession is over, step outside your comfort zone and take a risk here and there. The company can afford it and your hard… No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company… More
