Able to have a lot of responsibility because of the small nature of the company, but it has a long way to come.

Pros

Small nature of the company creates an atmosphere where all levels of employees are consistently in contact with one another.

Cons

The pay is not fair for the amount of time expected of you. They expect you to spend too much time at work and don't show a good balance between life and work. Communication from management needs a lot of improvement.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communication is essential and needs to be done more frequently. Paying your key people a fair and competitive wage will make them feel more appreciated instead of feeling like they are being taken advantage of.

I worked at Bridgeport Conference Center full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Very hands on learning, and you get a lot of responsibility as soon as you show you're ready for it. Everyone is great to work with, and it truly becomes like a family. You get to meet a ton of people in the community and can create a very large professional network.

    Cons

Very, veryyyy long hours. Many weeks were 50+ hours, including weekends. It wasn't uncommon to only have 1 day off every couple weeks. The pay does not compensate the hours, and even though there is a commission "structure" for the Sales team, it is impossible to meet the goals. You can get burned out very easily.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Either pay more to keep your employees happy and to make the long, hard days worth it, or hire more Sales Managers/Conference Services Managers to take the heavy load off of your top performers. Although it's getting better, slight confusion on who is really in charge of what event. A lot of it is whoever picks up the phone gets the event... no real seperation in catagories... except for Weddings and Department of Ed.
