Less oversight would be better. Very secure and sometimes happy.

Pros

Top of our industry, lots of collaboration and facilities. 401k match, bonus and PTO are excellent.

Cons

It seems there are a lot of people and contractors here whose job it is to 'make scientists more efficient' This is no fun, and people make money selling us plasticware tracking software, databases and network groups.

Advice to Management

Give us a break and let us into the lab more. Also, stock options for lab people, not just lawyers and business managers. It just goes better for everyone if we have skin in the game. Internal promotions would be nice too.

    Pros

benefits - great health care benefits, car, and bonus. Dependent on location /state/city dictates how much travel you will do.. Can be fun in accounts

    Cons

Heavily based on Metrics.. Very slow decision making by senior management. Very slow. At times seems it ADVERSARIAL attitude between management and field.

    Advice to Management

Ask reps for advice not only the MBA'S that never been out in the field

This is my first job after graduate school. BMS is friendly for entry level scientist to start career. working hours can be flexible. good for women.

    Cons

Recent lay off have affected this company, a little down sizing has happened. Location is not very attractive. benefits are not as good as before

    Advice to Management

increase training opportunity for young scientist, need to increase travel to scientific meetings and workshops
