I worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb

Pros

Good training, great access to resources, annual pay rises, bonuses.

Cons

American stone age style of time administration, missed time deducted from holidays not from pay with no chance of regaining time, first two hours of any overtime is given free to the company. no Time In Lue. A feeling of low morale in all locations. Outsourcing currently pandemic in most departments. Unions are forbidden in new sites and are being phased out of existing sites, except of course in France.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of this stone age American time managment, we are all big boys now. Stop all this outsourcing nonsense currently going on. Its affecting the quality of the product and morale.

I have been working at Bristol-Myers Squibb

    Pros

Good, transparent reviews for bonuses. People work well together (part of review for bonus). 15-25% bonus (based on personal and company performance). Decent perks - stock and benefits. flexible hours. Work from home when needed.

    Cons

Hard to get promoted. Lots of work. Big pharma - lots of people, lots of different projects, lots to juggle.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer more information on professional tracks. What are career tracks, clear information on how to get promoted and advance to higher pay scales.

    I worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb

    Pros

Colleagues were committed and for the most part collegial not competitive. Once you are a part of the organization, a good performer will be given developmental opportunities to advance. Benefits when I was there were excellent(company pension,401k match, stock options/grants,health insurance, PTO) although I've heard company pension is no longer as of this year(2010).

    Cons

So goes senior leadership, so goes the confidence you have in the organization and it was a roller coaster of folks my 15 years there from very poor to very good. On again/off again lay-offs and hiring has led to a significant amount of loss of institutional knowldege, so many lessons get re-learned time and again at the expense of expediency and efficiency.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try not to just make tactical financial decisions when it comes to your most valuable resource, your employees, think of how to hold on to them so the institutional knowledge which is irreplaceable doesn't hemmorhage possibly life-saving wisdom
