I worked at British Gas full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Variety of businesses to work in, good geographic split in the UK and a real desire to move away from being known as "the gas board" of old

Cons

Frequent, almost yearly redundancies in support functions, an ageing and non scalable technology stack in the home service business, constrained salary scales

Advice to ManagementAdvice

look externally and focus on driving exceptional customer experiences. It's not all about using the latest toys, you need to be able to leverage them properly

I worked at British Gas full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

There seems to be a genuine culture of taking care of employee's wellbeing.

    Cons

There is a definite culture of risk aversion. Most people have been around for a long time which can slow down the pace of advancement, and there is less appetite for change.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Entrepreneurship-like abilities should be praised more heavily to keep abreast of technological changes in a shifting industry.
