No opinion of CEO

Pros

The co-workers are good people.
Decent benefits from being a subsidiary of a bigger company

Cons

Have to live with the CEO's pet peeves, including strict 9-5 "flex hour" work day and odd pet peeves (They have a camera mounted to point at the kitchen sink. I kid you not).
CEO is fairly clueless about the underlying technology.
Commute into Bethesda to meet 9-5 schedule is a pain.
EVP announced that the office was open after a snow storm, and none of the executive team showed up to the office.
CEO hired his kid as an intern for the summer. Nepotism, anyone?

Advice to Management

Get a real CEO that has real management experience.
CEO should stop using the company/office as his own personal place. It's owned by Duchossois group.

  1. Great culture!

I have been working at Brivo Systems

    Pros

The culture at Brivo is open and innovative. It's the kind of culture often associated with technology startups where everyone can comfortably share ideas and is encouraged to contribute. Brivo employees are from all walks of life, cultures and speak many different languages. There are Ironman finishers, marathoners, cyclist and gym rats. There are foodies and fantasy football enthusiast. When we're working, we work hard. When we're playing, we play hard.

    Cons

Sometimes growth can be painful and Brivo is not immune to growing pains. Trying to maintain a "cool" culture and continue to grow in excess of 25% YOY can be difficult. Policies, procedures and a few bad hiring choices can get in the way but patience is the key. Things always seen to work out.

    Advice to Management

Don't let the best people slip away. Don't delay in helping people that obviously aren't the right fit find a better career.
