I have been working at Brocade Communications full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Beautiful gym with fitness classes throughout the day. Employees encouraged to join company organizations like green initiatives, volunteer/community work, fitness... 40/hrs per year of volunteer time off.

    Cons

Lacks innovation and real vision. Work focused mainly on reactional assignments vs taking on ambitious initiatives to drive industry movement. Culture shift from energized talent to"keep your head down".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Push the envelope and create opportunities to do work that inspires.

I have been working at Brocade Communications full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

NIce campus, reasonable benefits, in some areas good technology

    Cons

No momentum and no strategy. The storage business throws off cash - but the networking business is in a slow drift to the bottom. The marketing org has lacked a CMO for almost a year - and it shows with nearly no real marketing occurring. Dependence on federal business has hurt.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Choose strategic products - and spend money promoting them. Don't purchase companies unless the sales team are willing to sell them (that's Vyatta I'm talking about). Marketing channel should be held accountable to the numbers of leads developed. Ask yourself, why should a Cisco reseller or system integrator sell Brocade? I can't think of a reason - and so the business is destined to decline.
