I have been working at Brookdale Senior Living full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

The foundations of Brookdale center around caring for residents. We hear very often the statement "treat our residents as if it were your mother or father". The residents are well loved and cared for at my community!

Cons

Sometimes family members are not too involved with their loved ones. It's hard to hear, "I wish my daughter would come see me, but I know she's busy".

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the focus on enjoying life everyday with our residents!

    Pros

My experience resulted in my meeting some of the most committed, dedicated, hard working hourly employees, and some Managers who were devoted to residents. Not true of Regional Level Directors, who constantly reward Executive Directors for not paying earned over time. The bottom line is that residents are served ( because employees are devoted to them) . Brookdale bresults in

    Cons

Brookdale asks employees to use their own cell phones for business, also computers (lap tops). Payment for expenses ( gas) is not a simple process. The result is that Brookdale does a lot of business on their employees nickles. My experience has been questioning this results in abuse (verbal) My sense is that there are countess people who will confirm this fact.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay fairly for overtime. Brookdale has employees working 60 hour weeks without OT. Much Management turn their heads. Many examples available.
