I enjoyed working so closely to my residents and getting to know them and their families.

Former Employee - Resident Assistant in Denton, TX

I worked at Brookdale Senior Living full-time for more than a year

Pros

You learn a lot about the older generations, you learn how to multi task and compromise.
You learn how to prioritize and the importance of customer satisfaction.

Cons

The only downside I had with Brookdale was I got very attached to my residents and their families and when one of them would pass away it was very hard. You have to be good with detachment in order to work here.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Melbourne, FL

I worked at Brookdale Senior Living full-time for more than a year

    Pros

benefits are fair and within range, property is very well maintained, food quality is up to par, great onsite staff to work with

    Cons

Staff should display a happy environment for residents however due to: Constant scrutiny from regional managers, inconsistencies in their direction, threatening your position, embarrassing statements during conference calls, militant atmosphere created by them with no dignity to personnel. Goals made unreachable. We should work in a homelike atmosphere, not a military branch.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Send out questionaires to lower and middle management staff and have them discreetly share with you the unprofessionalism of regional personnel in the Florida region (Melbourne to Stuart)
