I have been working at BrownGreer

Pros

the work is interesting and the benefits are decent. there is also opportunity for advancement and opportunity to work on more challenging projects if desired. ability to work from home. organized work place

Cons

not much feedback on work performance. they also seem to hire almost anyone then have to get rid of less competent employees quickly after hiring and training them. the process seems inefficient.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide better feedback on work performance, be more selective in hiring criteria or more selective in work delegation, spend more time training employees

Production-Focused Company with No Concern for Its Employees

    I worked at BrownGreer

    Pros

The benefits package is decent - BG will cover a portion of your insurance premiums, and also makes contributions to your 401k after six months of employment.

    Cons

Management has little concern for the well-being of its employees. The work environment is very rigid and constraining. Silence is expected in the office, and talking to your cubicle-mate is worthy of a formal warning. As an incentive to boost morale, the company hosted ice cream "socials" during the summer months. Employees were not permitted to actually socialize at these events; rather, you were expected to take your ice cream back to your desk, and eat in silence.

Lunch breaks were strictly enforced, so if you were gone for 33 minutes instead of 30, you were expected to stay until exactly 5:03 pm. There was little flexibility or understanding for employees' needs. A supervisor would roam the halls, and look for employees who did not appear "busy enough" or were on a non-work related website without putting up a sign stating they were on break.

Employees were fired frequently, and without warning. One moment someone would be at their desk, a few minutes later, they were being escorted out of the building.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Productivity would be much higher if employees felt like they were cared for and valued. The current work environment is repressive and authoritarian. The partners are friendly with employees, but need to take the time to find out what's going on in their firm, and learn about the concerns of their employees.
