I have been working at Bryn Mawr full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

nice people, interesting atmosphere, some flexibility with hours and fabulous benefits. It is a small enough place that you can be exposed to many departments outside your area of expertise and I think there has been a positive push to collaborate more between departments.

Cons

There are certainly some difficult or entitled personalities, but I think you find those anywhere. Housing in Bryn Mawr can be expensive (and if it isn't, it is overrun with students), but the main line offers lots of other places to live which don't make the commute too far - especially by train.

I worked at Bryn Mawr full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

It's small and intimate, which means you get to know everyone quickly. The students are fantastic to work with and there are many co-workers who go above and beyond in their jobs.

    Cons

The administration is very concerned about keeping costs low. While this is understandable, it means that there is a large amount of under-staffing in administrative positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please consider the staffing of new programs and buildings before you institute them.

There is a lot to be improved at this school, and particularly in the Development Office

    Pros

    Excellent work-life balance, Excellent benefits

    Cons

Terrible senior management resulting in despondent staff. This college is also stuck in its traditional ways. The staff have only just begun thinking of the college broadly as a business that needs to compete with other colleges. There also seems to be a lack of trust and faith between the faculty/staff and the current president.
