Pros

Buzzmedia has an awesome portfolio of properties which allows employees on the tech side of the company to touch multiple properties and never get bored with the content. Great location, not venue. Free bagels on Friday's and if you work past 7 on Wednesdays...... you get dinner.

Cons

Offices are old and feel outdated. Having 40+ properties there are multiple business owners for each property making it difficult to get things done. Overall leadership and company transparency leaves much to be desired. Overall company culture is pretty poor, however there have been recent efforts to improve this. Management constantly reminds employees that "if your butt isn't in the seat, the CEO thinks you aren't working". Company is always hiring but can't seem to get the right / enough resources to stay a float

Advice to Management

1. Training staff and investing in expanding and improving their skills maybe expensive but it helps them to understand that you value them and that you want them to be the best at what they do. 2. Create staff incentives and perks - A well thought-out system of incentives and perks can help to retain staff in the long term. They can also be used to recognise good work and initiative, and encourage staff members and teams to compete for the prize. (Pizza or a $25 gift card for spamming our FB Friends to click on an AD campaign we run doesn't count) 3. Flexible working - Flexible working is one of the key things that new employees are looking for. According to a 2010 study by professional services firm Pricewaterhouse Coopers, flexible working was more than twice as important to staff than more traditional benefits such as performance-related bonuses. 4. Make the office a home from home - An attractively decorated office, kitchen and rest areas can improve morale massively. A place to work hard and play hard. 5. Transparency - It's helpful to understand where the business is, what the goal is, and how we are getting closer or further from the goal regularly. 6. Strategy - Develop a real strategy and vision, that isn't acquire, acquire, acquire.
