I have been working at C.H. Robinson Worldwide full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Good sales training
Support from manager
fun atmosphere to work in

Cons

Pay is low in this industry, but pretty good at CHR
career growth, not a very dynamic service you are selling, so its all pretty much sales people and a branch manager.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

increase pay. You are a $10B company with no assets, you can afford to pay a little better to attract talented people.

Good company, but needs to focus on pay and work/life balance

Current Employee - Human Resources in Eden Prairie, MN

I have been working at C.H. Robinson Worldwide full-time

    Pros

    - People, people, people - great teams of hard working people
    - Culture - fun, laid back, but professional environment
    - Overall benefits package is decent - it's the cash compensation that is well below market
    - Company is growing and has a good outlook

    Cons

    - Need to focus on work/life balance - even salaried employees are treated more like hourly in terms of punching the clock of when they need to be there.
    - Ironically, there is no career path in HR - what they call the career path is basically a joke, it doesn't make sense to anyone, and no one even uses it. We are HR, we can do better.
    - There is no pay scale, no way to measure against like employees. It's essentially a "everyone gets what they get" situation, no logic and no consistency. And they pay below market across the board, not just in HR
    - Start to think outside of the box in allowing employees to work from home where their jobs allow
    - There have been a ton of major changes to HR this year, need to get a handle on all of the changes and communicating what the future vision of the team is.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Figure out an HR career path that makes sense for all functions, or separate career paths within functions, the current “structure” doesn’t make sense to anyone
    - Get with the times on work/life balance, with the technology available today, there is no reason there can't be more flexibility in schedules, working from home, etc.
    - Update the compensation structure (create some structure in HR to start with), and get to at least mid-market rates
    - Foster a culture of salaried employees managing their own schedules
