    I have been working at C&S Wholesale Grocers full-time

    Pros

    Incentive pay for employees allows people to make more money for the more they produce

    Cons

    The incentive pay scale causes a tremendous amount of safety issues as employees are only concerned with what they are doing and nothing of what is going on around them. There is very little team atmosphere as departments can't even find it within themselves to figure out how to work together to not hinder each other. Opportunity for advancement is solely based on favoritism and not on qualifications. Managers make decisions on personal relationships. Management constantly talks about safety and quality, but that is where it stops. From there, it is solely about productivity regardless of safety. Too many safety incidents over time and not enough action about it. Damaged product is completely out of hand. Company steals from its employees when it comes to crediting time towards productivity appropriately. Company does not care who stays and goes, just that there are people out there picking boxes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop making decisions on your personal relationships. Actually come out of the office and do something rather than just say something and hope the problem goes away. Develop your staff. Too many people come and go through this company and too many safety infractions occur. Good employees don't want to stay in the same position, they are looking to move upwards and help the organization. It is a manager's job to find these people and help them develop - not for them to find you. Maybe if they did more actual employee engagements they might realize this.

    Pros

    promotions if you know someone in company who has great authority or in a high position.

    Cons

    A certain supervisor who hates on every hard working employee.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    you get rid of good quality workers but keep family members and non productive employees.
