Pros

No hassle with families, low-stress job. Fun to help kids. Stimulating and varied, not at all boring.

Cons

No benefits, even if working full time. You can make a lot more tutoring (though you often have to get your own clients)

I have been working at C2 Education full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The kids are awesome; no one really complains about being there because know why they're there (SATs, school help, just getting ahead, etc.). The other teachers are great, as are the administrative staff. Friendly, yet professional environment.

    Cons

The methods that they use take a while to get used to. However, they do provide adequate training, and scaffold your teaching experience so that you're not overwhelmed. It's certainly gotten a lot easier to manage my students over time.

  2. A hard but decent job until you can find something better.

I worked at C2 Education part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-The other teachers are very intelligent, friendly, and helpful. -Most students are motivated and polite. -The pay is better than what you what get at some other tutoring franchises.

    Cons

-Since schedules are constantly in flux, you must be willing to be extremely flexible. Most of the time, we didn't know our schedule until a few hours before we were supposed to start teaching. -There were a few (thankfully very few) students who terrorized the other students and left the teachers with headaches and eye twitches. -Teachers are discouraged from talking to parents, and the lack of communication leads to lots of misunderstandings. This is frustrating for all parties involved. -You don't always know who your students will be, and you have only a few minutes to prepare for them. You're supposed to get a 10 minute break between classes, but that time usually gets chewed up between the late leavers and early comers. -Absolutely no opportunity for advancement.

    Advice to Management

-Make more of an effort to encourage regular schedules. Perhaps provide incentives for students to keep appointments while penalizing drop-in students. -Be more willing to turn down wealthy parents who simply want a baby sitter for 2 hours. These students don't want to learn, and they detract from the other students' experience.
