Pros

benefits are good, some flexibility in schedule, surrounded by intelligent people. treat the employee's well, active in giving (ie Toys for Tots, Breast Cancer awareness, etc)

Cons

Job responsibilities tend not to change even with a promotion, based on your job, can be difficult to get promoted. developers have a higher likelihood to be promoted sooner than most other positions

Advice to Management

Continue to recognize employee's that are not located in the Arlington or Fairfax offices, recognition can be the key to keeping your employee happy

    Pros

Great characters and talent in the information systems sector of the company. Plenty of positions are available for mobility around the company in most regions of their headquarters. The management is open to feedback on software methods and workflows from employees.

    Cons

Relocation compensation is lacking. As a CMMI-3 corporation there can be excessive paperwork on simple solutions that diminish productivity on other deadlines leading to unnecessary overtime. The companyâ??s outsourced on-line University has lessons that contain errors and sometimes teach bad practices, making it boarder line useless if trying to expand the employee's abilities.

    Advice to Management

There appears to be a lack of work on projects at times. This down time can be best utilized with training that's superior to the on-line University or the few CMMI based training lessons the project managers pull together.

  2. Helpful (2)

Record company profits, but no contract employee bonuses

    Pros

Plenty of I.T. contracts within the company, may have an opportunity to switch from one to another

    Cons

Compensation is weak and there are no bonuses (for contract employees). Annual cost of living adjustment (based on performance appraisal) is weak.

    Advice to Management

Record profits, yet poor cost of living adjustments and no bonuses for contract employees is discouraging.
