I have been working at CAE (Capital Asset Exchange & Trading) full-time (More than a year)

Pros

- If you are good AND can tolerate the work environment, you will be paid very well. It typically takes at least 6 months before you can begin to really see the money / bonuses, but if you last that long, and you can trade well, you will be greatly rewarded. - For an entry level job, it has a large amount of responsibility and gives you the opportunity to really make yourself some money. - Work start time is flexible, 5am to 9am. Very nice if you have a preference (or language advantage) working Asia, Europe, or US based clients. - Gym membership - Ridiculous weekly and monthly prizes. Ferrari rentals, trips to Cabo, iPhones, 50” TV’s, etc. - Young company, startup mentality. Constantly changing (also a negative, see below) and very exciting.

Cons

- While management states via company-wide emails that they only want you to work 12 hour days, you will be asked by your direct management to work longer and the CEO will call / email you incessantly until ~2am. Ignoring their communication is not an option and will get you in trouble. - The CEO is constantly changing his mind, and thereby, what he expects from you as an employee. One day he wants “A” and the next day he will want “B,” and in one week he will completely forget he even demanded “A.” The issues with this mentality is that employees never feel like they have done something right and often his policies are completely conflicting. This creates a lot internal confusion and tension. - Management has no respect for time off or any personal plans you may have. “Mandatory” company events, meetings, cocktail hours, and inspections are often scheduled with very little notice. They will call and email you on holidays, weekends, days off, vacations, sick days, and you must answer.

Advice to Management

You have a good, young company on your hands, with exceptionally motivated and talented employees. Please recognize that they are humans, not robots, and even the most intelligent, ambitious people need respect and a break from the daily grind every once in awhile. Derogatory emails in the middle of the night not only disrupt the few precious hours of sleep we have, they also break down our spirits and make us less motivated. You have been trying to improve over the past ~6 months, and the difference is noticeable; however there is more to change. Thank you for trying to remedy the problems and please continue to improve because the company will go "the distance" if you treat your employees well (and no, not just by renting them Ferraris).

Be true to your word. Leadership styles using fear as a primary motive never last forever.
