Current Employee - Setup Team Lead in Raleigh, NC

I have been working at CARQUEST full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Truly seem to care about their employees
Very flexible and work with you in case of family events, and schedule
Get to see the country
Good pay and benefits

Cons

Every job has its little complaints but Carquest is a corporation that has a small business feel. Sure there are some self centered people but even most of the high ups will spend time talking to you when they are around. I would say the only con was communication in our department. Could go weeks sitting around the house but not able to do anything you need because you could get a call to pack up and leave for a job the next day.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just communicate with your employees more. I dont know if that means planning things further in advance or just telling them as soon as you know but thats it. Other than that keep up the good work and sell some parts.

Current Employee - Customer Service Teammate in Tucson, AZ

I have been working at CARQUEST part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

401k, benefits, IF you ever make it to full time status (in Tucson, AZ. anyway)

    Cons

Too many managers, IE: Store Manager, Area Manager, District Manager, Regional Manager, etc...
Managers who make decisions aren't from Tucson... They don't see the big picture, and their decisions hurt the stores ability to succeed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Store Managers are in position to decide what is best for the store they manage, right? Then let THEM do their job!!! Cutting payroll and hours only lowers morale, and paying a customer service (teammate?) the same wage as a driver with no experience is unfair and a slap in the face!!

    SINKING FASTER THAN THE TITANIC!

I worked at CARQUEST full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Competitive pay... Good people to work with in certain departments...

    Cons

As I said in my title the headquarters is sinking faster than the titanic! Management has too many meetings and not much ever gets accomplished in those meetings. Sooo they have more meetings. Management doesn't listen to the employees ideas. Every step that is made to try to make more things efficient they take three steps back. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Certain employees need to be fired because they don't care about what they are doing. Some of the ones that were laid off need to be brought back because they were carrying the weight of many.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your head out of your a$$ and quit making decisions on the fly. Put some intelligence behind your decision. Listen to your subordinates because they are the ones helping you make that $100K plus paycheck! You spend money on crap (software and hardware) when you don't even know if you will be in business in six months.
