Personally Rewarding, some great leadership among administrators.

    Cons

Community culture. Teachers often suffer verbal abuse from students and lack of support from administration towards teachers.

    Advice to Management

Insist on more parental involvement. Hold students accountable for thier actions. Back up your teachers, give GOOD teachers the respect they deserve..GET RID of BAD teachers.

Positive overall, however, it's all in who you know.

    Pros

Great benefits with state retirement. Large district with many employees yet not too large for networking. Affords employees many professional development opportunities. Competitive salary.

    Cons

In order for advancement, it's all in who you know. It seems that posted jobs are usually already "promised" to someone else ahead of time, making interviewing a waste of one's time. I have worked for the last 3-4 years without any raise in salary and have had a $4,000/yr. decrease in salary due to furloughs.

    Advice to Management

Be open and honest to your employees. You move people around to different positions or schools without any explanation as to why. Hiring procedures need to be streamlined - extremely slow in initiating interviews and then fill positions with qualified leaders in "interim" positions for months! Let interviewees know the end result - people who take the time to interview for positions would like to know whether or not they got the job.
