Current Employee - Accountant  in  Atlanta, GA

Pros

Family/work life balance, and easy commute to work. Especially if you ever get a chance to telework. There is a laid back atmosphere at my office location, everyone is very friendly and seems to want to help each other accomplish their goals. The atmosphere at CDC reminds me of my college days, there are a number of meetings and the management seems to be very enthusiastic about training and providing the best education and opportunities to employees.

Cons

None that I am aware.

    Pros

The work environment is out of this world. Everybody works in public health because they want to help people and love the work, nobody does it for the money (which isn't bad) and it shows. There is a very short power distance and everybody is assigned tasks that are substantial. As an intern I headed a project that was up for Best Practice. Long story short, if you get a job offer form CDC Atlanta, you take it.

    Cons

Working for the government is always going to limit your veritcal/horizontal movement. But if you love the work and you don't mind the government atmosphere it's not a problem.

    Pros

Great place to work. Doing good work in the community and world.

    Cons

Somewhat elitist when it comes to education. Usually need at least a Master's degree to attain any position of respect.
