I worked at CDI

Pros

Large company with long-standing clients and a good geographic reach; has a good company culture and cooperation at the branch level.

Cons

Often losing market share with existing clients.
Too much bureaucracy.
Slow to complete company initiatives.
No brand development hurts ability to source top candidates.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to keep managers in place long enough to set and achieve measurable goals, learn your customers' business better and modernize your processes.

Just another body shop. Nothing special.

    Pros

High hourly rate. But this place is only about money so figure your rate accordingly.

    Cons

No benefits. Health Insurance is full price. Extremely high priced! No vacation. Strictly a money company. Nothing else. They sign your check and that is about it. Pay rate was cut 10% and then 6 months later cut 15% with no notice. Not cool! Blamed the economy but that was bogus excuse to pass on slim margins from IBM. Pretty much a lap dog for IBM.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't rely on IBM for all your work!

    I worked at CDI

    Pros

Administratively a very sound and excellent company to work for. No problems with compensation whatsoever. Like many other contracting firms, they mandated faxing in timesheets promptly on Fridays, and allowed for the following Monday until 10am.

    Cons

Not much of a chance to network with other CDI contractors. Of course we contractors as a group were dispersed geographically and our experience and expertise was probably fairly diverse.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Might want to consider urging contractors to network together on a social blogging site, such as Linked-in or similar site. Try to find some common ground on ensuring quality of work is maintained, customer expectations met or exceeded. Perhaps emails or web site updates on general articles of concern to contractors / professional development.
