Pros

Nice people, growth opportunities in different locations in US and globally, new executive leadership team who will hopefully make some big changes for the positive, interesting work that makes a difference in the world, diversity in workforce.

Cons

Conservative culture that sometimes needs to get out of it's own way and understand what is happening in today's global market and labor force. US dominated. Some IT systems a bit behind.

Advice to Management

Look to future and think outside what's always been done. It's time to think like a leading company as opposed to thinking we are 2nd to others.

    Pros

There are no longer any good reasons to work for CDM Smith.

    Cons

total focus on billability and utilization instead of trying to win more work or distribute regional work to keep people employed. The merger with Wilbur Smith, the fracture of the western region into areas that include geographically dissimilar states, complete lack of career paths, and total emphasis on the bottom line has alienated employees and clients. Office moral is at an all time low. Layoffs have created a snowball effect, where everyone else is leaving or looking to leave. A vibrant office environment of dedicated professionals doing create community work has been decimated.

    Advice to Management

The culture of sucking every last time out of clients over providing value and the total emphasis on "utilization" or else needs to change. Create regions that make sense geographically. Allow employees to work across regions. Reward Customer Service Representatives based on how well a project performs, not just on the sale. Allow all participating employees to benefit financially from well run projects. Allow time spent on working to win work to count as "utilization"

    Pros

Very stable life and career style before CDM merges with Wilbur Smith to form Wilbur Smith.

    Cons

The merge/acquisition destroyed everything. They closed down a field office which included a lot of PEs and EITs. It actually happened for the benefit of me since my new job had a 30% salary increase. Still, having worked for CDM for four (4) years, it really hurts to see the company going down the hill.

    Advice to Management

Review system is unfair to the new kids.
