Good to be hired from the outside, bad to rise from within.

Pros

Freedom to work remotely (in most positions, not all.) Co-workers and managment are respectful, good working environment, excellent rapport amongst co-workers. Lots of opportunites, they are good about hiring from within.

Cons

If you started in a lower position and work your way up, the opportunities are there (which is good) but the pay level stinks. They don't reward you for the knowledge you already have. Your peers could be making 20K more than you - and that sucks.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Equal work - equal pay. Quit giving us the "corporate only allows a 4% increase" in your salary baloney.

    Pros

Great Benefits, especially maternity leave if you work with the company for at least 3-5 years. Excellent perks for all departments with vendor lunches and raffles. The company posts birthdays on a repeating screen outside of headquarters, which makes it feel like more of a community atmosphere.

    Cons

Sometimes it can be a bit too casual and people can get slightly unprofessional. I think a lot of people there are comfortable in their positions and are OK with that atmosphere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More communication to their employees about decisions that affect them would be great. Even if they aren't 100% sure of the outcome, a little heads up would be nice.

They tell you that there are accounts to work, you just need to find them, but they give you no tools.

    Pros

Once you find an account, it is yours, unless they are saving an account for someone else.

    Cons

It is very difficult to find buying accounts that the other hundreds of reps did not find yet.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management's job is to increase revenue for the company. They are doing a great job. CDW brings on 50 new reps per year. At the end of the year, there might be one or 2 left. The proof is in the pudding. If you don't jive well with management, you will not do well.
