I worked at CDW full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Chicago Location next to union station is central for commuters, running errands, and working out.
Inside sales means less travelling out of state.
Potential to make mega cash does exist if you're good at playing the corporate game.
Youthful, fun sales atmosphere.

Cons

Sales goals in some segments can be over-inflated....and if you don't hit goal, you risk not getting paid your commission at all.
Commission structure can be confusing to understand in certain segments, even the commission analyst had difficulty explaining it firsthand.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix commission structure so that it's easy to explain, and understand. This may not apply to all segments, but it does to some.

    Pros

    Great work life balance, dedicated teams to achieve customer satisfaction, constantly have something to work on or improve

    Cons

    IT projects are often released and never fixed before moving onto the next "big project". Often they create more work than and most cases little support is given to fix/improve them before the next one is being developed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    career development doesn't happen by reading an online training guide. Work WITH your team and show them how your roles add value to the company.

    Pros

    Large marketing and name recognition. Internal systems are streamlined and easy to use.
    Potential to make really good money

    Cons

    Too many layers of management. Very little accountability and sales takes the hit. Harder for newer generation of reps to make good money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep in mind that sales drives the company's success and happy sales reps equate to successful business. Treat employees like adults...
