I worked at CEB full-time

Pros

Younger culture, great experience for people with less than five years of experience, opportunities to talk to and work with the c-level, lots of community involvement.

Cons

Managed by hearsay, conformist culture, groupthink, not managed by performance but by likeability, constantly changing standards based on your manager.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Decide what a position should look like and the goals that position should achieve, and then measure against it.

I worked at CEB as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Great learning experience, you work with a lot of very smart people and even get to have lunch with some of the executives, including the CEO. The culture is very youthful and, as far as the internship experience goes, after talking to a lot of my friends who interned at other companies, this internship is definitely one of the better ones. You get to speak with some of the leading business leaders in your practice, which is great for developing your oral communication skills, and they also plan a lot of fun outside-the-office activities, like going to a Nats game, helping out at a soup kitchen for a day, as well as happy hours. Great experience, would definitely recommend doing it.

    Cons

You can sometimes feel sort of lost. Meaning, you aren't given very specific directions as to how you should approach various tasks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Got to meet many of the executives at CEB. Very smart and driven.

I have been working at CEB full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Access to research that is normally given to C-Level execs. The people doing the work are actually much more intelligent, resourceful, and innovative that the leadership.

    Cons

Completely inept leadership that leads by intimidation, digging for gossip, and heresay. Not convinced that the top leadership in sales knows how to run a business. Total lack of collaboration from those that have valuable input. Business processes change with the wind. Promotions and recognition are made as if it's a popularity contest and just an exrtension of the college greek system. Inappropriate relationships, unethical behavior and lying are condoned and offenders are those at the top in leadership positions. Just waiting for the day when they get a real HR group and act like a business instead of a fraternity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some education and training in how to manage a business. Get rid of the Middle Market leadership! The washed up high school football coach mentality is not motivating to the team. Start to pay attention to what is going on yourself instead of relying on the interesting gossip and rumors that are believed because you are too lazy to leave your office and make your own observations. The staff does not trust the leadership at all.
