Pros

There is a great chance to became expert in production, energy trading and distribution. Salaries are age correlated, so all you need to do is sit, wait and try not to take any decision making risks. After few decades, you may earn neat middle management position, and lifetime job security. Unfortunatelly CEZ employees are considered by other HR recruiters as lazy, overpaid and incompetent. But you don't have to worry, since you are a possitive contribution for the company you are practically undispensable. CEZ is also great at allowing it's employees a familly life. So if you are seeking safety, long term job, you hit the right spot.

Cons

CEZ has a excelent outside PR & marketing, many times most admired Czech company, creating aura of modern and dynamic international company, in reality post-socialistic monopoly miles away from being effective and internationaly integrated. As the most admired Czech employer, CEZ HR department succesfully continues to create this impression, in fact there is no real career trajectory at CEZ, promotion and rewarding is unclear, leaving upper management positions to McKinsey "mafia" friends, with no chance for hard working experts to penetrate those tight structures of nepotism. Corporate culture is struggling with its socialistic herritage, a lot of "talk" and no "walk". As in many state owned companies, responsiblility diffuses, and sometimes is seems there is no man in charge.

Advice to Management

To follow company interests instead of their own benefits.

    Pros

+ generous salary and benefit package + large company (G2000) with work opportunities in many areas. Opportunity to remain in the company for a long time + working for CEZ in the Czech republic means having the opportunity to be present to all big decisions (compared to working in a local office of some global company)

    Cons

    - state has a huge influence on the CEZ operations - politically driven decisions - rigid environment - slow movement on the career ledger (at least compared to up/out environment of some consulting firms)
