good for a fresh grad, not for someone with a family

Geophysicist (Current Employee)
Houston, TX

Pros1. Cutting edge technology

2. Steep learning curve for interested people

3. Knowledgeable employees

4. Free lunches and well equipped break rooms

Cons1. Work-life balance - forget it if you want to get noticed!

2. Management does not care about employees needs; just interested in making money

3. Too much of hierarchy in the organization

4. Being a 'normal' person does not help one's professional development or career growth

5. Company is interested in just hiring new talent, not retaining the old ones.

6. Many managers lack people skills and professionalism

Advice to Senior ManagementRecognize employees needs and help them grow professionally. Respect and reward experienced employees accordingly. Spend time to listen to them and understand what their needs are. Train managers to treat people with more respect and values. Think of a way how to retain experienced employees, otherwise they're going to keep leaving.
