I have been working at CGI Group

Pros

Flexibility is outstanding. Telecommuting is very common

Cons

More managers than workers. Everyone has an opinion but no one wants to do the work. Too many meetings and lack of recognition overall for the people that really matter and provide value to the company.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cut fat from the management and support the team players that really matter

I have been working at CGI Group

    Pros

    Flexibility is nice.
The majority of your co-workers are friendly and fun to work with. Benefits such as health, 401k matching, stock option matching, and even profit sharing are nice.

    Cons

Biggest problem with CGI is the lack of training/growth. When you are on a project there IS no mentoring for being a PM, team lead, etc. If you work hard and do well they might consider you as a lead. The majority of leads and pms come from the outside so again NO growth/mentoring from within. Once you join CGI-AMS you will get a great starting salary...after that % of raises are few and far in between.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

MENTOR your consultants if you want them to succeed you or be in a position for management.

good place to get a job, not a good place to make a career, disapointing.

I have been working at CGI Group

    Pros

good insurance plan, 3 weeks vacation at the start of your permanency.

    Cons

hard to take back your banked time when YOU want to. Hiring freeze every year means you work like a dog to compensate the lack of staff for 3 months, then when targets are not met, they hire.
Moving a lot of their Level 1 activities off-shore (read India - they call it best-shore!) to satisfy shareholders expectations and save (make) more money. Business-Unit are split up in a way that, even if you work as hard or harder than your colleague in another business-unit, you don't get a bonus (or a mediocre one). Some people get the flowers, others get the flower pot.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit listening to the shareholders who just want money, pull an 'Amazon' and concentrate on long-term growth instead of short-term targets.
