I worked at CGI Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They recruit heavily out of colleges and have a very young talent base. Many projects are setup to take many fresh college grads each year. They do a good job of mentoring and assimilating people into the workforce. The work/life balance is good and once you've been working there a few years you often have opportunities that most people in that experience range wouldn't, such as managing others (often new college hires). From my experience annual raises were above average.

    Cons

You're often at their disposal in terms of assignments and work locations. In the first few years many people change projects. A con of having younger leads/managers is often people who have no idea how to effectively manage get placed in those positions. The company's structure is very flat and vague. You start as a Consultant and then don't see a title change to Sr. Consultant until the 5 year mark. This can make it hard to tell 'where you're at' career wise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer more employee input on project assignment and location. If someone isn't happy with that, they probably are going to end up asking for a change or worse leaving the company.

I have been working at CGI Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Diversified company operating across many market segments. This provides long term stability and many opportunities horizontally and vertically within the company.
    - Total compensation package is very competitive, especially for members with proven work ethic, hands-on experience, current and relevant industry certifications and college education.
    - Sky is the limit on your career. Your manner of performance is recognized and rewarded.
    - Company offers industry certification and education re-imbursement that supports your professional development goals.

    Cons

    - 401K match is not the greatest, but at least they have a plan, something is better than nothing.
    - On-boarding a bit cumbersome and back office response to correct issues lags.
    - The direct labor members, who generate some of the company's profit and whose work performance helps win re-competes, tend to get short end of profit sharing stick.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Keep up great work providing strong, diversified, growing company that creates jobs!
    - Don't try to be smartest person in the room, pride is good, but it can get in the way of success; coach and mentor instead.
    - Pass more profit participation (bonus) down to lower levels, highly compensated executives don't need it as much as some members, especially the ones working in economically depressed areas.
