I worked at CGI Group full-time for more than a year

Pros

40 hour weeks, great starting salary, lots of young people, learn technical skills, excellent college recruiters

Cons

hard to get promoted, in my account it was 4-5 years for a promotion. Upper management would hire someone as a senior business analyst rather than promote someone infinite times more worthy. Office was in Fairfax which wasn't really metro accessible

Advice to ManagementAdvice

career development, promote from within (especially when dealing with a proprietary software), better raises and compensation for top consultants who leave for companies that are willing to pay them

I worked at CGI Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Nice products and solutions but that is about it.

    Cons

Poor commission plan that even when you sell two or three deals, they find ways not to pay you. I've never seen a more subjective commission plan in my entire life in business development. If you expect to make anything comparable to other BD opportunities, stay away!! Business Unit managers find numerous ways to not pay. The in-fighting among BU managers is absolutely terrible. 11 Business Development professionals either left or were fired. The ones who were fired weren't because of their poor performance but because of the lack of Senior management and executive oversight. Some BD professionals were fired within 15 months of employment. In the Federal world it takes that long just to get something going. The hands off mentality and no guidance is absolutely terrible. The biggest problem is the absolutely LACK of cohesion. BU managers lying and cheating each other and most of all their employees. Directors get the shaft most of the time and the VP's mostly get promoted because they've been there a long time or because of nepotism. NOT because of quality and actually winning deals. Absolutely the worst company to be paid by. Just look on the street to see how many "X" CGI business developers there are.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn what REAL business development is. Socialistic BS doesn't work when you want to actually win deals. What the heck is wrong with you people!?!

I have been working at CGI Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great Benefits matching stock purchase up to 3%, annual bonus social club which sponsors events, good for college new hires, work from home depending on the project

    Cons

terrible training (experience hire would have a culture shock) training is geared towards young college grads just starting out their career, 25% chance you will be on a bad team, if your black you will find there aren't many in management they are typically hired in HR and to staff the company's internal helpdesk on the 4th floor

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

better training, better organized training, stop letting senior consultants work from home all the time they need to be in office more to help develop new members, diversify mgmt. (minorities to INCLUDE BLACK MEN AND WOMEN) . I rated low because lack of opportunity and poor training but you can always take your stock and bonus and pave your own path
