As long as the employee tows the company line without question, the company will offer support.

Pros

Pay is pretty good, but that depends on the contract. It is possible to transfer from one location to another if you want to move somewhere else. If contracts are canceled, they will try to find somewhere else to put you.

Cons

Money is their bottom line. If the contract or money is at risk, in any way, the employee gets pushed aside. I have not experienced the flexibility in schedules that other people have. This obviously depends on the contract. The company offers no support for employees who have suffered tragedies in their personal lives, especially if the government client also does not offer support. Whatever the clent wants, the client gets even if this hurts the employee. The company will not be supportive the employee wants to file a complaint against the client. Paid time off (pto) and sick leave are the same.

Advice to Management

Know your employees better. If they need help, please be more supportive. Don't listen to gossip and take the time to learn what is truly going on at the job location before passing jusgment on anyone. Be more flexible in time off for the employees, even if the client is not.

    Pros

CGI offers a very good work-life balance, with very understanding management. Unlimited sick days and in general a good sense of team.

    Cons

Commutes often split between Fairfax, VA and Washington, DC. There is a lot of tolerance for sub-standard employees which can be frustrating under tight deadlines.

    Advice to Management

Probably time to revisit the mission of CGI FederaI. The current strategy of milking profit from T&M contracts is going to result in a deprecation of the company brand.

Average consultancy with little name recognition and myopic focus on margin

    Pros

Exposure to a limited cadre of Fortune 100 Firms, support for training if you can convince management, some attempts to connect with rank and file staff but it's really treated more like a checkbox than heartfelt.

    Cons

High turnover rate. Lack of commitment to long term opportunities unless there is short term money to be made: margin is constantly under a microscope for senior staff, so if numbers don't look good in short term then cuts come quickly.

    Advice to Management

Invest in Business Development and getting more offshore staff Visas so there are people available instead of waiting until the last moment. The margin and stock price look good in the short term. It you are losing volume and market share against TCS, etc.
