I worked at CGI full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

strong focus on staff development and lots of opportunities for people who want to advance to dig in and do so...but you have to work for it.

Cons

Some senior leaders are burned out, cynical and far beyond their skill sets. CGI Federal's business is to sell the skills and time of it's staff; i.e. the people are truly the asset. I think some senior leaders forget that.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior leadership (VP on up) needs to be kept in check. And, never sell what you have not properly prepared yourself to deliver (i.e. FFM). I was once told not to confuse sales with delivery. The only people who say that are the arrogant tools who then turn around and tell you to get it done.

I have been working at CGI full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Profit Sharing Plan, transparency, great people to work with

    Cons

Starting to make cuts to benefits and other quality of life items. (Still more generous than other companies out there.)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A lot was given to the members here, and while it may seem insignificant, cutting some of the little things that have little effect are taken as slaps in the face since benefits and other things are already being cut.

I worked at CGI full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great company to work for, they cared about their consultants. The assignments were challenging and I learned a lot.

    Cons

When the local workload decreased, out of area consulting work was tough to obtain

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep promoting from within the company's local talent! Senior consultants that moved to account managers were terrific; whereas, managers hired from outside the company or local area were not always 100% effective.
