I have been working at CGI full-time (more than an year)

Pros

For the most part, as least from my perspective, CGI is a "big boy company" meaning I do not get micro-managed and typically only hear from mgmt if there is an issue or for kudos. Stock options are amazing! You also own the stock immediately. Very generous vacation and sick leave

Cons

Lack of training, which is a double edged sword. They are really starting to tighten up on salaries as gov't spending draws down. They are switching over to the dreaded HSA health plan. Old insurance plan was great!

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Id rant about healthcare and salary, but this is a publicly traded company so decisions made are understandable.

    Pros

Paycheck comes on time. That's a good thing, right? Employee stock purchase program is a good deal.
From a business side, they run a very tight ship.

    Cons

Salaries aren't competitive and the benefits are sub-standard. Management doesn't give a crap about career development or career planning; all they are interested in is selling you. Titles and job descriptions are WAY out of whack with the rest of the industry. They don't value highly technical people and consistently reward mediocrity. And if you get rolled off of a project, you have three weeks or your fired; this doesn't make for a very good work environment when everyone is worried about getting fired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start taking care of your people as more than just products. It's a competitive market for people with technical skills and you'll be left with the scrubs that no one else wants. Well ... since mediocrity is rewarded, that may be just fine with you.
