CH2M HILL Employee Review
CH2M HILL – “Good to start but give up on advancing anywhere.”
2 of 2 people found this helpfulPros
A good company to start a career with, at least to get an idea how not to do things. There are a few people with a ton of esperience to learn from.
Cons
The company pays significantly lower than the average starting salary. The company designates you as salary but pays you hourly. CH2M treats its different business groups differently with the office in Denver having the greatest "perks". Some divisions get a pension while others get only 401k. They will lay you off, dont believe what the hiring managers tell you about not laying anyone off. The will ship you to jobs away from home and expect you to pay for the extra expense of living in a higher cost of living area. CH2M HILL will cut you to less than 20 hrs a week even though you are a "salary" employee. They will tell you that they are splitting the work between employees so that everyone has the same hrs yet some are still working full time while others are working none. The managers get paid enormously while the engineers that make the company money are scraping by. They will hire you for a specific job where you have potential to help them and then lay you off when that job is finished. The company is completely disorganized with their standards and practices between groups. There is a enormous amount of Nepotism and Cronyism within the company as well. So if you dont know someone, go to their church, friends with their family, went to their college or are married to one of their family members you might as well give up going anywhere within the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop white washing how the company is doing. Tell the truth to your employees about pay, advancement, personal learning and development. Pay for living expenses while away from home. Pay managers based on actual work accomplished.
