    Pros

-Salary and benefits were about average for the business, but these were being cutback.

    Cons

-CH2M HILL acquired several growing profitable Oil and Gas E&C firms and have nearly lost all of their business in that sector in less than five years.
-85% turnover in 2 years in the Anchorage office, mostly voluntary, almost none of which was replaced due to lack of work.
-Have lost nearly all of their business in Oil and Gas during a comparative boom for most other companies.
-When work runs out, licensed engineers are forced to take unpaid time off while project managers are put on overhead.
-No focus on developing a good engineering and design practice. Like many other E&C firms, have abandoned technical services for project management services.
-No career growth for younger employees. You are stuck where you hire on at. If the economy improves, they will hire in people with comparable experience to you above you for more money.
    -No training.
-Company is not competative in bidding for oil and gas projects of any significant size.
-No communication to employees. Will deny layoffs are imminent and cut 20 people the next day.

    Advice to Management

Management continues to tell employees this is a downturn. The oil and gas business unit is dead compared to most companies which are booming. The execution and quality of projects drove off nearly all clients. Return focus to engineering and design and rebuild the business this way. Quit the silly 'Project Management/Delivery Center" nonsense which is really just a way of charging clients for a whole bunch of overhead and indirect crap they don't need.

I was unable to show and share with the company my true talents.

    Pros

Great benefits! Alaska was an adventurous place to see and work.

    Cons

CH2MHILL had poor communication and underqualifed leadership. They were unable to recognize talent and had improper placement of man power. Way too much micro management.

    Advice to Management

Safety culture was so overwhelming that it caused more damage than it helped. I felt they were always "jumping over a dollar to pick up a dime"
