Pros
This is a good company with some excellent people working there. They started strictly as IT staff augmentation and are attempting to grow into the solutions space. People are friendly. CIBER treats both customers and clients with respect and professionalism, making them a company that you would always be proud to represent. Compensation and benefits packages are good and they are understanding of the needs of professionals to have a work/life balance. Offices are throughout the country and there is little to no travel involved for most personnel.
Cons
CIBER has struggled to be a "solutions" provider. They have great capabilities and promise, but they are fearful of making a solid investment in the personnel required to be a true solutions provider. The bench costs can be daunting. They have made more investments over the last couple of years, but it is still a bit of a revolving door and their staff is stretched too thin. Also, there is help from Corporate in making sales, but proposal writing, coordination, coaching, and managing large deals falls on the shoulders of the salesperson.
CIBER was also late to offer an offshore alternative so competition is very stiff in this area.
Advice to Senior Management
CIBER would benefit from making a stronger investment in senior level technicians to support their solution sales, as well as a proposal writing team dedicated to assisting the salesforce. Each hour the salespeople spend on proposals takes them out of the field where they could be hunting for the next deal.
