CIBER – “At least the pay was good”

Pros

The salary was nice, although after dividing it by all the unpaid overtime, it wasn't that special.

There were some good people there, but they weren't supported by good management. There's still a lot of talent at the company, but I don't think it's being well developed, used or rewarded.

Cons

Managers "teased" (or outright insulted) team members in group meetings. Individual meetings with managers tended to start with the manager saying "I heard that you..." and following it with an accusation of wanting to leave the company.

New ideas were met with hostility and actual, literal sneers.

No training provided whatsoever beyond the bare minimum to meet legal requirements for handling certain documents or using the timecard system.

Advice to Senior Management

Get some proper management training. Learn to treat employees like human beings with worthwhile skills, not just cogs in a machine. "Sharpen the saw"; even cogs in a machine need maintenance and repair, and human beings need it even more.
