Pros

Amazing sense of camaraderie between coworkers. Passionate individuals who are enthusiastic about their work and getting it done with the best results.

Somewhat difficult to move up within the company since so many people stick around for several years.

I worked at CNN full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits. Having a parking place downtown.

    Cons

Leadership is a greedy, reactionary good ol boy network. Too many Vice Presidents. 20/50/100 rule (layoff after 20 years, 50 years old, $100k.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Serve your customers not your shareholders or the President du jour. Get rid of the "personality, star based" system and get back to gathering and sharing the news simply and cheaply.

I worked at CNN as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The free iNews, MIRA, and Media Source courses were helpful.

    Cons

Very negative working environment. Co-workers gossip on a daily basis and back stab each other. Internship program is a joke, no help/guidance/events was provided throughout the course of the internship.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respect, listen, and value creativity. Give your interns real responsibilities, not use them as copy machines.
