I have been working at CSU Sacramento

Pros

Great people, great staff, great students
Diverse student body
Beautiful campus
Dedicated student-centered employees, especially in Student Affairs

Cons

Faculty are not diverse enough--still too many white males!
Unflexible schedules for staff
Limited opportunities for growth due to CA state budget crisis
Union controlled raises for staff--union hasn't negotiated a raise for staff in over 4 years
Business model in an educational setting
Very little staff recognition by management

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Professional Development is not optional -- it is necessary.
In an economy where there are no raises, other types of recognition are essential in order to retain your employees

I have been working at CSU Sacramento

    Pros

Proximity to SF and SLT, cheap rent and mortgages, depressed real estate market, every outdoor recreational activity imaginable, if you like hot it's for you!

    Cons

Zero recognition for doing more than what is required, no incentive to accept more responsibility, some inept leaders, way too hot!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe we could work as a team, not explode like children when things don't go exactly as planned, and learn to appreciate just how much hard work goes into every project.
