Pros

CSX has a good annual bonus and seems to be thriving in a bad economic environment. When the company is doing well, the annual bonus can be really nice, but can also be non-existent when the company is doing badly. As an Employee, CSX really seems to treat employees with respect and provide an understanding environment. CSX also has many benefits that companies seem to be dropping such as pensions, tuition reimbursement, and medical benefits.

Cons

CSX is a railroad and has an "old school" view of the world. Technology is not retreat with respect and there is no forward thinking strategy. With Technology, CSX is reactionary and does things on whims without any fore thought.

Since we are forced to rush and meet unrealistic expectations of uninformed individuals, most projects lead to downtimes or unmet goals. However, since they are completed ontime and onbudget they are viewed as successful: even though they cost the company more money in the long run.

The work is thusly challenging and frustrating, but with pay and compensation it is very difficult to leave.

Advice to Senior Management

Pay more attention to Technology. Our opinions are not respected and most outages and problems related to technology are because the business ignored sound advice from technology partners.
