Pros

Flexible schedule if you go to school/ Meet new people/
30% discount on nonsale items
A good company to start but dont stay there

Cons

Management tries to avoid putting you fulltime even if you are working the hours. 32+ you are eligible for full time benefits.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize your employers for the work they do. It felt like the harder people work the more management depended on you to pick everyone else slacks. the same with schedules the harder you work the worst shift you got including weekends cause its the busiest and since you work hard the slacker gets it off.

Former Employee - Store Manager in West Los Angeles, CA

    Pros

stable company, some very good people who make it worthwhile to be there, but also some very lazy problematic employees just like any other industry. Mgmt opportunities open quite often if you don't mind loosing all balance between personal and business life

    Cons

regional and Area mgmt does not care about employees, specially mgmt at store level
No job security for manager, in two or three years, practically all SM have been replaced by younger, less experienced, lower paid people

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

listen to managers at store level, they are in the front lines and have an unequal advantage on getting the pulse of the business

Current Employee - Store Manager  in  Los Angeles, CA
Current Employee - Store Manager in Los Angeles, CA

    Pros

Competitive pay. Flexible hours although managers are required to close 2 times per week and work 4 weekend days. Not always enforced.

    Cons

No payroll. Manager only salary person in store, as hours are cut every year...managers are expected to make up for the work that isn't complete. There is high manager turnover so the newer managers are not give the time and training needed to be successful. Staff are low paid and expected to work hard. Always compared to Trader Joes and In & Out that pay their employees much more.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No one wants to be promoted to the next level because they see how stressed and hard working their boss. That's a big problem for a growing company. Today's bottom line isn't everything. Treat you people right.
