CVS Caremark – “Valuable career experience for a future in the medical field”
1 of 1 people found this helpfulPros
Flexible hours, opportunities for further career growth potential (if you are planning to go into a medical field, especially pharmacy), on-the-job training for technicians and CVS will pay the fee for technicians to become nationally certified.
Very knowledgeable, personable pharmacists who take the time to address customer issues and help answer any questions employees may have with drugs or CVS procedure.
Cons
Store managers seem unaware/uninterested in any personal situations occurring in the pharmacy, such as scheduling conflicts or requests for more hours. Until anything affects the store manager, they are not interested in assisting you.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop catering to customers rather than providing a professional level of health care. For example, prescription labels used to contain the patient's DOB (month, day, and year). However, due to complaints received from customers claiming that they are sensitive about their age, the year was recently removed from the label. Several customers have the same month, day, and last name, with a similar/same first name. Without the year in the DOB it becomes slightly more difficult to verify the identity of the patient. Other inconsistencies stem from the launch of their new PCI (Patien Care Initiative) program, which requires pharmacy staff to call patients due for refills on maintenance medications, consolidation of prescriptions filled at other pharmacies, and counsel patients who are filling maintenance medications for the first time. This takes a large chunk of time, and suddenly a store with a steady flow of customers becomes a busy, understaffed store that cannot complete all the required tasks in one day. When adding an additional work load, management needs to also increase the number of hours available for additional employees.
