Pros

Great team environment, very supportive managers, challenging work. The department I was in was the Industry relations and rebates department. All I can say is that the people are absolutely wonderful. The job is challenging, but everyone works as a team and helps you learn the ropes. Definitely the best place I have worked for so far.

Cons

Promotion can be hard to come by within the department as many people have been there a long time, but lots of room to move to other departments

Advice to Management

Management is great, no complaints

    Pros

    The benefits are ok
flexible schedule unless you are in management
    they give you a paycheck
    Vacation and sick time
401 ok for those that make a decent living which is hard to achieve such a position

    Cons

Benefits only for full time people. They refuse to make a lot of people full time who actually work full time cause they dont wanna give them benefits
    no scheduling flexibility for management
shift supervisors way underpaid. Some make less than cashiers.
They do not value their employees.
They make frequent mistakes on payroll and dont fix them
All they care about is their customers. No regard for their employees (who are customers too actually)
    raises are a joke
They provide little to no training
their buildings were cheaply built...a/c, freight elevator, leaky roofs all occur on a regular basis
Very small staff. They barely employ enough people to cover all the shifts during the week. If one person calls in sick or someone takes vac be prepared to work double shifts and/or 6 days a week
they wont let you work 7 days straight in a pay period but will make you work 7-11 days straight if it overlaps pay periods.
no overtime...they will make you work 6 6.5 hour shifts before ever offering you overtime
managers never get uninterrupted meal and rest periods. You have to clock back in, catch the call, then clock out again till u hit 30 min.
lots of managers dont discipline their employees. No matter how terrible you are in any way shape or form, cvs will never fire you unless you steal something from them. Lots of stores have worthless employees who are horrible w/customers.
all ive ever heard from ceo is what is on the back of cvs brand food. Doesnt engage with his employees
dms and sms hire who they know (friends, family etc)

    Advice to Management

    Provide some actual training
Have some standards when it comes to hiring
    value your employees
    Provide decent raises
    Needs better disciplinary action.
Stop tolerating and settling for deadbeat employees who give terrible cust. Service and managers who just warm a seat in the office
Stop giving people full time hours and making them list as part time so they dont get health insurance
Give more hrs to stores so managers can actually take breaks
Offer a promotion to a qualified internal employee before going external. Many dont believe in promoting supervisors
hire enough people so the crew is burdened with having to work double shifts and/or more than 5 days in row
Own up to and fix payroll mistakes
cvs will likely fall apart as a company. Only people who are gung ho about cvs are shoplifters and couponers
