Pros

Interesting time to work in healthcare; company has lots of potential; movement within the organization is possible if you play your politics right

Cons

The CVS purchase a couple of years ago definitely made life at Caremark less pleasant. The new company doesn't understand how a PBM works or what to do with it. one week record profits are announced, the next week there are no bonuses due to not meeting targets. Bad managers thrive forever; nepotism is alive and well. Pay isn't great.

Advice to Management

Weed out the bad managers and let your best employees thrive.

    Pros

    flexible hours
good intro to healthcare and pharmaceuticals
awesome learning opportunity about drugs, pharmacy, business, laws, prescriptions, etc. for pre-med and pre-pharm and pharm students
get to meet with and talk to patients/customers and make them happy, etc. if you are a people person, customer service etc then this job is good for u

    Cons

pharmacist always keeps and eye on you (not much autonomy) always tries to boss you around basically distracting you from your primary work, but then gets mad when you dont finish your assigned primary work
they try to blame lost drugs on you (thanks to prev. dishonest employees)
they want you to work your ass off for such little pay (if it was about $3-4 an hr higher, it would have been much better)
they dress you up in a tie and give you a white coat, but you are getting paid basically minimum wage. not enough pay
they dont hire enough techs, so during the busiest times of operation, you are basically swamped trying to manage work that should be done between 3 techs (1 tech does the work for 3 techs, while the pharmacist sits on her butt eating food and drinking diet soda)

    Advice to Management

it all depends on the location. management can make life hell for you or will make life easy for you. if a store is doing bad, or if a district is doing bad, yelling at employees isnt going to get much done. dont focus on how quickly we answer phones or drivethrus and etc and instead see how happy our customers leave the store.
