I have been working at CVS Health full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Flexible work schedules, good working facilities, and non medical benefits

Cons

Experienced tenured employees are under valued in the organization. No retention programs.

Advice to Management

Recognize tenured knowledge based employees. People make more money off the street with no experience with the company. This is causing the company to lose employees and has increased client payouts do to errors for lack of knowledge. Benefits have gotten worse over last 10 years. This constant adjustment will cause employees to leave. The excuse we are following the industry trend is not accepted when you have communication channels with other previous employees and networking to other companies in healthcare. As a healthcare company we should be setting an example... not adding to the problem.

I have been working at CVS Health part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a small store, with less than 25 total employees per store (depending on the store) so there is a great sense of teamwork and community. You are also able to have a professionally personal relationship with your customers because you get to spend a little bit more time with them per transaction versus a grocery store.

    Cons

It's a customer service job- you deal with all kinds. Because it is an exclusive club of sorts (it is a highly selective job because of the size of the store) it would benefit the employees to be paid a higher wage for all the work that they do.

    Advice to Management

Great people work at CVS but I believe people would go above and beyond if their paycheck reflected their work ethic.

  2. Massive company, in stable market that is trying to improve

    Pros

Healthcare marketplace adds to job security Intangible sense that some of the work that is done helps people Learn a great deal Relatively good opportunities for advancement Flexibility Very intelligent and competent upper management

    Cons

Bloated bureaucracy due to large size. Many levels of management High amounts of office political savvy needed to advance Dilbert principle in the middle management Slightly lower compensation/benefits due to large retail part of business

    Advice to Management

There is an opportunity for improved efficiency if you look deeper at your mid-level internal support. These departments have been insulated for so long that complacency has set in.
