I worked at CVS Health full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Coworkers were great and management cared about their employees. Salaries were competitive and benefits were good. Enjoyed my time working there.

Cons

Once CVS bought Caremark everything went downhill. Massive layoffs followed over the years, Management didn't care about anything but saving their own jobs. More and more complaints by customers. They moved many operations around and lowered salaries. Now employee health benefits are going to become extremely expensive and almost non-existent. It's a big Pharma company that only cares about their bottom line.

I have been working at CVS Health full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good Pay. Excellent Schedule. Overnights 3 days on 4 days off alt with 4 days on 3 days off. Time to take kids to appointments etc. Run family errands. Good automation: Script Pro Robot to help fill prescriptions. Prescription verification tray provided. It is huge and looks like a dustpan with a funnel at the handle. Works well, can see all the pills for verification. At first, I thought it would slow me down but it did not.
Health Benefits are good when you take into account the low employee contribution required. CVS has Castlight Health to help employees get their money's worth ("value") when shopping for healthcare. Give you prices at different providers and angies list ratings for a procedure you specify. CVS has Health Advocate to help untangle medical bills and help to find providers, help get prior authorizations etc. CVS in my area is currently using Aetna which most hospitals like better than UnitedHealthcare. CVS has a values in action website on which it is possible to earn points redeemable for merchandise. Every quarter on WebMD wellrewards health manager for CVS there is a different activity that, when completed earns 5000 points redeemable for a $50 itunes card or other stuff. CVS has wireless discounts. CVS offers Financial Engines Professional Management for their 401k which I utilize. Usually many night pharmacist "holes" (unfilled positions) in the districts which provides some level of job security for the existing night pharmacists still able to hack it.

    Cons

Understaffing during the day leads to heavy workloads at night for the Night Pharmacist working alone. High turnover among pharmacy technicians. Politics & Cattiness during the daytime employees. Unpleasant performance reviews due to impossible to complete tasks. Getting in trouble for not being able to complete the leftover work of others & your own on time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your night pharmacists better. The old timers are tougher than the new ones you got that burn brightly for a short time then flame out.

I have been working at CVS Health full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

30% discount on CVS Brand, and 20% discount on other non sale merchandise. Company has discount center online where you can purchase or get services for various things at a discount. Reward system where you earn points and can redeem them for merchandise or gift cards. Vision Insurance excellent, and Medical/RX ok but high deductible plan. 30 hours full time per guaranteed at least 30, part time only guaranteed 4 hours a month.

    Cons

Depending on your manager, it could be good or bad. Sometimes managers are allowed to do or say things that are illegal or non professional, and when you report it sometimes it gets lost in translation. Depending on how well your store performs, your hours could be cut or extended beyond what you agreed to work, sometimes even mandatory overtime. Customer Service is priority, but at the price of verbal abuse of employees is allowed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your head out of your ass, and go on Undercover Boss and see what's really going on in the stores.
