I worked at CVS Health full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Coworkers were great and management cared about their employees. Salaries were competitive and benefits were good. Enjoyed my time working there.

Cons

Once CVS bought Caremark everything went downhill. Massive layoffs followed over the years, Management didn't care about anything but saving their own jobs. More and more complaints by customers. They moved many operations around and lowered salaries. Now employee health benefits are going to become extremely expensive and almost non-existent. It's a big Pharma company that only cares about their bottom line.

I have been working at CVS Health full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

30% discount on CVS Brand, and 20% discount on other non sale merchandise. Company has discount center online where you can purchase or get services for various things at a discount. Reward system where you earn points and can redeem them for merchandise or gift cards. Vision Insurance excellent, and Medical/RX ok but high deductible plan. 30 hours full time per guaranteed at least 30, part time only guaranteed 4 hours a month.

    Cons

Depending on your manager, it could be good or bad. Sometimes managers are allowed to do or say things that are illegal or non professional, and when you report it sometimes it gets lost in translation. Depending on how well your store performs, your hours could be cut or extended beyond what you agreed to work, sometimes even mandatory overtime. Customer Service is priority, but at the price of verbal abuse of employees is allowed.

    Advice to Management

Get your head out of your ass, and go on Undercover Boss and see what's really going on in the stores.

  2. Basically ethical but Severily understaffed.

I have been working at CVS Health full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The people I work with and most of the customers are great. The pay is sufficient and the health benefits, fringe benefits, 401k are nice. Most of what i've seen in the past 8 years from store teams and field management has been a team of hard working, ethical and customer service minded individuals giving everything they have to do the best job possible.

    Cons

The biggest complaint I have is the lack of staffing. The company sets the bar high, but a few more staffing hours here or there would make a world of difference. The company is concentrating too much on saving on expenses and not enough on building a frame work to execute at a high level of service. It needs to look at long-term goals instead of short-term stock price. The system in place for monthly action planning is overwhelming. The lack of staffing hours makes it tough to the message to my crew. Stores should be open less on holidays. Specifically Thanksgiving night, Easter night, and Christmas Day. When there are bad storms the stores stay open during times when no one should be out traveling. It would be safer for customers and employees if Senior management was more safety minded.

    Advice to Management

Lower the sales per man hour and listen to the suggestions coming from your store managers and DM's.
